ELISA test for the detection of human hemoglobin (Hb) in stool.

One method based on the discovery of blood in stool is immunological blood in stool detection (iFOB) for the determination of human hemoglobin (Hb). This procedure depends on the presence of a source of bleeding in the intestine (indirect method).

The modern immunological blood in stool detection (iFOB) has significant advantages over the outdated biochemical blood-in-stool test (FOB); so-called “guaiac” or “hemoccult” test. The modern immunological blood in stool detection (iFOB) of hemoglobin (Hb) represents a significant improvement over the previously used guaiac test (FOB). Only specific antibodies against human hemoglobin (Hb) used.

Sample material: tiny stool sample

Benefits of the immunological blood-in-stool test (iFOBT) to detect human hemoglobin (Hb) in stool:

  • Indirect procedure, as depends on the presence of blood in the stool
  • Modern immunological blood test (Hb) with significant advantages over the conventional biochemical guaiac method (FOB)
  • Use of specific antibodies against human hemoglobin (Hb)
  • No false negative results due to antioxidants
  • No false positive results due to animal hemoglobin or peroxidase reactions due to food constituents When should lactoferrin be determined
  • Can be used in combination with the stool sample extraction system ScheBo® • Master Quick Prep™

When should human hemoglobin (Hb) be determined:

  • Colorectal cancer screening
